Online therapy across Colorado
Trauma-focused, identity-affirming therapy by video, wherever you are in the state. You don’t need to live near Denver to work with me.
When the right therapist isn’t close to home
Outside the Denver metro, it can be hard to find a therapist who specializes in complex trauma, and harder still to find one who is affirming of queer, trans, poly, and neurodivergent clients and won’t need you to explain your life before the real work can start. In a smaller town there’s also the question of who you might run into at the grocery store. Online therapy lets you work with a specialist from anywhere in Colorado, from the privacy of your own space.
How online sessions work
Sessions happen by secure video and follow the same arc as sessions in my office. EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) both adapt well to video. For EMDR, the bilateral stimulation that helps your brain reprocess a memory can come from following movement on the screen or from tapping you do yourself, and we’ll find what works best for you. You’ll need a private space, a steady internet connection, and a device with a camera, and headphones help if you share your home.
Making room for a session at home
Doing therapy where you live can take a little planning. Some people use a bedroom with the door closed, some take sessions from a parked car, and some keep a blanket or a familiar object nearby to help them settle afterward. We’ll also plan for the end of each session together, so you have a few minutes to come back to yourself before you step into the rest of your day.
What we can work on
My practice centers on complex, relational trauma: the kind that built up over years in early relationships and family life. I work with many queer, trans, poly, and neurodivergent people, and with therapists doing their own work. You can read more about complex PTSD therapy, trauma tied to identity, and therapy for therapists.
EMDR intensives, online or in Denver
EMDR intensives can happen online too, including the processing day. Some people like doing the deepest work in their own space, and others travel to Denver for the processing day and do the preparation and integration sessions by video.
Fees
Weekly sessions are $200, online or in person. If you have out-of-network benefits, I’ll give you a superbill to submit, and the out-of-network benefits page walks through what to ask your insurer.
Therapist note
I'm Alex (they/them), a Licensed Professional Counselor in Denver. I trained in EMDR because the people I most wanted to help, folks carrying complex, relational trauma, so often arrived having already tried hard to think their way out of it. EMDR can reach places that talking alone sometimes can't. I use it carefully, at a pace your system can genuinely say yes to, and always alongside the trust we build first.

A free 20-minute consultation is the first step. We’ll talk about what you’re carrying and whether working together online is a good fit.
FAQ
-
You need to be in Colorado during each session, since that’s where I’m licensed. If you’ll be traveling, let me know ahead of time and we’ll plan around it.

For most people, research finds that therapy by video works about as well as therapy in person. Some find it easier to open up from their own space, and some miss the separation an office gives. We can talk about what suits you and adjust if something isn’t working.
-
Yes. We’ll set up the bilateral stimulation in a way that works on your screen and in your space, and pace the work so you can close each session feeling settled.
-
Yes, if you can get to my office on Speer Boulevard. Some people come in for the first few sessions and then continue online, and some come in only for an intensive’s processing day.
